History
The first time Brattsbacka is mentioned in writing is in old tax papers. There you can read about Sven in Brassback and Peder and Olof. Sven Olsson was the a son of a lay assessor named Olof Ersson, who lived in Brattsbacka in the year of 1500. Thats how long we have evidence of people living here. The valley of Leduan is probably one of Nordmalings countys eldest inbabited areas. You can find that people continously has been living here since the stone ages. If the villages in the upper parts of the valley, which Brattsbacka is a part of, are this old is an open question. Maybe these parts were used for hunting and fishing, and later, in the Middle Ages, became more permanently inhabited.
If you can read in Swedish, order the book Brattsbackabygdens historia part 1, 2 and 3.
